The police arrested a 20-year-old man from Tilburg on Thursday for involvement in the explosion at a synagogue in Rotterdam. Five Tilburg residents had already been arrested.
On the night of Thursday 12 to Friday 13 March, an explosion took place at a synagogue on ABN Davidsplein in Rotterdam.
Officers tracked down four suspects from Tilburg because the vehicle they were driving showed remarkable driving behavior. Officers eventually found a jerry can in their car. After the arrests, the police searched four homes in Tilburg. The fifth suspect was arrested on March 19. They are suspected of arson and causing an explosion with terrorist intent.
The police also arrested a 23-year-old man from Amsterdam on Thursday in connection with the attack in Rotterdam. In addition, an 18-year-old Amsterdam resident was arrested. He is said to have been involved in the preparation of an attack on a synagogue in Heemstede on March 20.
All suspects are still in custody. They are under complete restrictions and are only allowed to have contact with their lawyer.
