Never before has the number of road deaths in our country so low. In 2024 there were 455, of whom 198 were in a car. That too is the lowest number ever, which has a lot to do with the numerous safety gaps with which our new cars are equipped. “The older the car, the less well he protects the occupants in a collision,” says Stef Willems of the VIAS traffic institute. Will our cars become so smart that no more road deaths will fall in the future?
