Sandman, the Netflix series based on Neil Gaiman’s cult comics, is getting a second season. “Yes, it’s true, ‘The Sandman’ will be returning to Netflix,” the series’ official Twitter account said. A short video was shown that ended with the announcement “The dream continues”.

“I’m incredibly pleased to say that [die Produzenten] Allan Heinberg, David Goyer and I will bring more of the ‘Sandman’ stories to life,” shared Neil Gaiman. “Some amazing stories await for Morpheus and the rest (not to mention even more members of the Endless family).”

“Sandman” is about Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the ruler of the dream realm, and his siblings, including Death (Kirby Howell-Baptiste). Gwendoline Christie appears as Lucifer. The comic series by Neil Gaiman originally appeared from 1989 to 1996, since then the booklets have been combined into ten anthologies. The first season of the Netflix series implemented the first anthology “Preludes and Notturni”.

Neil Gaiman is known as a novelist alongside the “Sandman” comics. His books have been popular as series material in recent years: In 2019, the BBC and Amazon filmed the apocalypse parody “Good Omens”, which Gaiman wrote in 1990 together with Terry Pratchett. Before that, Starz broadcast a series on “American Gods” from 2017.
