Netflix Christmas film “Jingle Bell Heist” with Olivia Holt starts straight away at number 1. Crime comedy about robbery delights viewers.
The season of Christmas films on Netflix is already in full swing – one Christmas production of streaming size follows the next. Now the film “Jingle Bell Heist: The Great Christmas Heist” started on November 27th and went straight to number 1.
Newcomer duo stages crime comedy with Christmas romance
There are some newcomers in the production team: The script was written by Abby McDonald, who is making her debut as a film author. At her side she had the somewhat more film-experienced Michael Fimognari, who made a name for himself primarily through his camera work on “To All The Boys: PS I Still Love You” and “To All The Boys: Always and Forever”. Now McDonald and Fimognari are creating a crime comedy with Christmas romance.
Second leading role for Olivia Holt in 2025
Olivia Holt stars in the lead role. After numerous smaller appearances in series, she became best known for her roles in “It Wasn’t Me” and “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger”. For the actress, “Jingle Bell Heist” is her second leading role this year; she recently played Ally McCabe in the Spyglass Entertainment horror romance. Her “Cruel Summer” colleague Peter Serafinowicz, who most recently lent his voice to the character Kotzbakke Jorgenson in “How to Train Your Dragon” (2025), can be seen in another important role. The best-known face is probably the British actor Connor Ryan Swindells, who appeared in front of the camera as Adam Groff between 2019 and 2023 for the successful series “Sex Education”. In “Jingle Bell Heist” he plays Nick O’Connor.
Robbery for Mom’s Cancer Treatment: The Story
The film initially deals with an everyday fate: the cancer-stricken mother of the protagonist Sophia (Olivia Holt) can no longer pay her treatment costs, so the daughter plans to rob the entrepreneur Maxwell Sterling (Peter Serafinowicz). Former IT expert Nick O’Connor comes up with a similar plan – and the two get together.
Christmas films in the Netflix charts
In the Netflix chart week from November 27, 2025, “Champagne Problems”, also a Christmas film, follows first place among the top global films. Overall, Christmas films have not yet completely conquered the Netflix top 10. The “Criminal Squad 2” film adaptation by Christian Gudegast is in 4th place, the Frankenstein adaptation by Guillermo del Toro is in 10th place.
