Netanyahu announces counter-offensive after attack in East Jerusalem | Abroad

The attack happened near an Israeli settlement. A car drove into a crowd at a bus stop, killing three, including two brothers, ages six and eight. Several other persons were injured. The suspected perpetrator was shot.

In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu has now announced a large-scale operation against “perpetrators” of such acts of terrorism and their supporters. That would happen in both East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The Israeli security cabinet will meet about the operation, Netanyahu said. The expansion of Jewish settlements in Palestinian territory will also be accelerated.

Earlier, Itamar Ben-Gvir, Minister of National Security for the far-right Otsma Yehudit, also announced a military offensive in predominantly Arab East Jerusalem.
