Zurich (dpa -AfX) – The world’s largest food manufacturer Nestle (Nestlé) wants to increase the dividend despite the last difficult times. It is to be increased by five centimes to 3.05 francs, the producer of brands such as Kitkat- and Nespresso said in Zurich on Thursday. This is intended to increase the dividend for the 29th time in a row and this, even though sales and profits have dropped last year.
The group recently fought with a weak demand, high costs and the strong franc. In 2024, sales fell by 1.8 percent to CHF 91.4 billion compared to the previous year. Adjusted to change exchange rate changes as well as access and sales of company parts, Nestle grew by 2.2 percent compared to the previous year.
The so -called organic growth is made up of price adjustments of 1.5 percent and quantity increases (RIG) of 0.8 percent. The growth was a little better than experts expected. The dividend is also a bit more than hoped for.
For 2025, management continues to improve organic sales growth compared to 2024. The underlying operating result margin should be 16.0 percent or higher. In the medium term, Nestle wants to continue to be valued by over 17 percent. Organic sales growth should be “4 percent plus” in a normal business environment.
As announced on the investor day in November, the group plans to save around CHF 2.5 billion by the end of 2027. The savings are to be financed with higher investments in marketing ./tt/uh/awp/zb
