Nelly Furtado wants to make more room for self-love instead of the haters out there.
Nelly Furtado shared a post on Instagram without any filters. In the caption, she wrote an ode to self-love.
Furtado has discovered “a new level of self-love.”
As a New Year’s greeting, the singer posted two photos on her Instagram channel. She can be seen posing in front of a mirror in an orange bikini and photographing herself. Without effects and without make-up, as Furtado assures. “These photos are without makeup and there is no editing or filters on these photos, but I have a spray tan,” said the Canadian. He continued: “I have spider veins and they remind me of my mother and aunts and life, so I think that’s why I haven’t separated from them yet.”
With the post and the accompanying caption, Furtado celebrates self-love and leaves no room for hate and body shamers. “This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressures of my work in a whole new way, while simultaneously experiencing a new level of self-love and true confidence from within,” said the 46-year-old in introduction to her statement.
She continued: “For those interested, I have never had any facial or body surgery or augmentation, except for veneers on the top row of my teeth recently.”

The work of the beautician, the make-up artist and the stylist
The “Maneater” interpreter repeatedly had to hear that she had had her face and/or lips done. Now she told those spreading the rumors: She only relies on her “loving beautician,” who supplies the musician with various serums and creams – which Nelly Furtado allegedly started using when she was 20. She also wrote that she would sleep on her back and drink lots of water before events (like shoots or red carpet moments).
Plus: Furtado revealed that her make-up artist, as well as her stylist, would occasionally use face and body tape to achieve a certain silhouette or to give the make-up design more expressiveness. “Body makeup can also sometimes be used to contour to achieve a specific look,” says Furtado. And: “Makeup can do magical things! Just like great eyebrows! Just like a good hairdresser! Just like great underwear!”
“Celebrate your individuality”
The singer ended her post with an empowering message to her fans for 2025: “Express yourself freely, celebrate your individuality and know that it’s completely okay to be happy with what you see in the mirror, and that it’s okay to want something different.”
In the comments section, Furtado is celebrated for her openness and her words. “Real women come in every shape, size and color. All I see is a beautiful woman rocking the swimsuit! “I love your message,” said one user, while another commented: “Self-love and self-respect are the most beautiful light a woman can radiate.”
