There is a contradiction in Neil Young’s work. He works so hard as a songwriter and has written many perfect songs phenomenally. And at the same time it is afraid for him. This is because he is concerned with the essence, not about whether the key is right or is distorted or not very clean.
It doesn’t matter to him.
Neil Young has made entire albums that were not exactly great, but instead of returning to the formula that has been proven to work, he prefers to show at which point he is currently.
That is what you needed so much respect – that in his career it went up and down so often because he always remained loyal to his character and what he was. Nothing is falsified, everything is real. The truth is not always perfect.

I can’t say how much I like Crazy Horse. The sound, the groove, has both depths – even if you don’t hear anything, it still sounds great because you can feel it. I usually don’t like something like that.
I like Sly and the Family Stone, Miles Davis and Mingus. I like constant musicians who master their craft. I grew up with jazz and only heard rock music when I played in my first volume in the high school. From progressive rock too Hendrix To La-Punk.
He changed my point of view
Then I realized that feeling and content, no matter how simple knitted, represent a value. A really good one-chord punk song became just as important to me as a coltrane solo, and I also had this feeling with Neil Young. He changed my point of view.
As a bassist, I was on very fast, syncopated and rhythmically complex pieces. After hearing Neil, I learned to appreciate simplicity, the concise of the “less is more”.
