Just about all the neighbors sat up in bed in the middle of the night last July when the neighbor was inconvenienced for the umpteenth time. “I heard ‘bang’, that woke me up,” a neighbor said the day later. It turns out to be a robbery, during which shots were also fired.
Soon there will be four suspects arrestedthree of which are still in custody. During the preliminary trial in November, it became clear that the resident was tied at the hands and feet with tape and held at gunpoint. Was there a robbery? or a drug deal gone bad? “It has escalated in the house. They know each other, are both in the drug trade,” said a lawyer for one of the suspects.
‘Our safety is at stake’
“Drugs were being dealt from the building. A large quantity of drugs was also found in the house,” said another lawyer. The neighbors are not surprised. Local residents have been complaining to the municipality and housing association De Woon Schakel about nuisance for a long time. “Our safety is at stake,” they said after the incident.
Since then they have only wanted one thing: the neighbor leaves the area. Because the situation has not improved in recent months, says a resident of the street. The residents tell their story anonymously for their safety. “The dealing continued as usual until last week. And three weeks ago I found a bullet that was lying in front of his gate. While children also live and play here. That house should have been closed much earlier.”
