The area around Gerretsonplein in Eindhoven was ‘spacious’ on Thursday morning because a plastic bag with cobras and flammable liquid has been found. The police report this. The first floor of a flat on the Dr Hermansweg has been evacuated. The police are investigating a link with a failed attack on a fish shop nearby.
The bag was found outside on the square. “If all of that went off, a huge explosion would follow,” the police said. The Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) is on site. Residents of the partly evacuated flat are being taken care of in a location nearby.
According to the police, the find may have to do with the failed attack on a fish shop in the neighborhood on Wednesday night. At Restaurant Zeester on the Kruisstraat in Eindhoven, a perpetrator put explosives in front of the door, but he failed to explode. A connection is investigated by the police.

Jumbo visitors are waiting inside
There is also a Jumbo supermarket on the square. It is currently open, but visitors and staff are not allowed to go outside yet. The exit is deposited with a ribbon.
Local residents say they are surprised on Thursday morning by the sudden measures. “I ran up against the ribbons, and almost ran at the package,” says one of them. “We were not all well aware of what was there.”
