They help each other with relocations and chores and meet for cozy outings. “I am extremely proud of this neighborhood circle,” says Margret van der Krogt. From Odion she guides the group remotely. She sees it works. “Some participants were sometimes lonely. Now they tell their family: no time to meet, I have to go to my friends.”

There are now neighborhood circles throughout the country, to an idea from England. In Krommenie/Assendelft, the volunteer is Gwen who pulls the cart. “I do that with a lot of love,” she says. “It mainly means: a lot of fun.”
