Residents on the Kievit in Oss were startled early on Monday morning by a huge bang: heavy fireworks exploded in the garden of a neighbor. According to them, it is not the first time that things go wrong at the house. “I no longer dare to stay home alone,” says a woman, who is considering placing cameras together with a number of neighbors.

“I woke up this morning,” says a neighbor of the house where the explosion was. Around a quarter past six she heard a huge bang. “The world ends, I thought. The explosion was not normal.” The debris lay in her driveway. “An explosive has probably been thrown into the garden, so there is a lot of damage. It’s the umpteenth time. I think it’s getting scary now.”

So it is not the first time that it is hit at the house in Oss, local residents say. Earlier, stones were already thrown against the roller shutter and the rear window. They are talking about a conflict in the relational atmosphere that the explosion would also have to do with. Something the police want and can say nothing about it due to privacy reasons. That is why she cannot say whether something has happened before at this address.

Arrest

A 43-year-old man was arrested for the explosion early on Monday morning at the house on Kievit in Oss. A window died due to the heavy fireworks. At that time the resident, a woman and two children were present in the house, but they were not injured. The police are investigating whether there is a relationship between the arrested man and the people who were present in the house.

A man from the neighborhood heard a loud bang at the back of the street. “It looked like illegal fireworks,” he says. Curiously he took a look. “Then I didn’t see much, because it was dark. Later there were suddenly two police cars at the door. Then I knew it wasn’t a lump.” The incident does not leave him untouched. “I’m more on my guard,” he says.

That feeling lives with more residents. They say they no longer feel safe in the street. “I no longer dare to stay home alone,” says Vrouw. “You never know what they are capable of. Immediately the resident of the house is still blown up. And then I wonder: why wouldn’t that happen to me too.”

“We don’t understand what this man has earned for.”

She is considering purchasing cameras together with a number of neighbors. “Maybe that ensures that the perpetrator stays away.” She is sitting in her hair. “It’s not doing so. And you never know when the next bang will come. So you look for solutions to a problem that you really have nothing to do with, and know nothing about.”

The residents in the street speak full of praise for the occupant of the affected house. “It’s a top fent,” say two women who sometimes come to him. “He is always ready for you when you ask something. He has two sweet daughters, for whom he always takes good care of. We don’t understand where this man has earned this.”
