A bright spot for the De Weide neighborhood association in Hoogeveen. A group of residents has set up a collection campaign to support the association. After King’s Day, three party tents were demolished, leaving them behind with a claim of 10,000 euros.
The idea of raising money comes from the local clubs RegionErs Hoogeveen and the forges of Hoogeveen. People can make a donation via a website to offer the neighborhood association a helping hand.
The shock was big the morning after King’s Day. Neighborhood association De Weide had rented three large party tents and whose cloths were destroyed or cut. Who is responsible for the damage remains unclear.
“It remains a bitter aftertaste for us,” said chairman Hein Akerboom. “Especially the anger and disbelief is still there, because who does something like that?” The damage is a huge blow to the association, because the club is not insured for it.
Akerboom is happy with the collection campaign, because it is not yet clear who ultimately turns up for the damage. Both parties do not yet agree on that.
A report was made to the police because of the destruction. The chairman wonders if it will eventually help. “We took pictures and sent them, so we’ll hear it again.”
When asked if he thinks the perpetrators will report, he is short. “To be honest, I don’t expect much of that anymore.”
The neighborhood association will in any case simply celebrate King’s Day again next year. “We don’t let ourselves be beaten,” said Akerboom. Perhaps it is checked whether special lamps and cameras can be hung to prevent nuisance.
