Trainer Kruys extends contract with FC Volendam until mid-2028
Trainer Rick Kruys (40) has extended his expiring contract with FC Volendam until mid-2028. The club announced this on Sunday. Earlier in the day, Kruys’ team lost 3-2 at home to NEC. FC Volendam is in fifteenth place.
Kruys started as coach of FC Volendam in 2024. He became champion in the first division, which achieved promotion to the Eredivisie. Kruys was also active as a player for FC Volendam in 2011 and 2012.
Sparta wins and rises to ninth place
Sparta Rotterdam has climbed to ninth place in the Eredivisie after a home win against NAC Breda. The Rotterdam team won 1-0 at Het Kasteel thanks to a goal by Shunsuke Mito. Sparta has 20 points after fifteen games. NAC is seventeenth with 12 points.
Sparta and NAC had great opportunities to open the score at the start of the match. But they were not spent on Ayoub Oufkir (Sparta) and Raul Paula (NAC). Both players shot into a defender in front of an almost empty goal.
