Nearly half a million laboratory animals used in Belgian laboratories in 2021

In 2021, almost half a million animals were used for experiments in Belgian laboratories. Compared to 2020, the figure in Brussels remains more or less the status quo. In Flanders, the number has risen, just as in Wallonia slightly. This is evident from figures published by the three regions separately on Thursday. Mice, rats, rabbits, chickens and zebrafish are most commonly used.
