One in seven of all million-dollar properties sold last year were in Knokke-Heist. Most sales are between a million and 2 million. But there were also outliers of 10 million. Julie Hemelaer, Liv’immo – Christies International Real Estate Belgium: “Of course, the majority is still between one and two million euros. But there have been many transactions above 10 million euros. These are serious amounts.”
Bruges at 2, Kortrijk at 3
In the past, properties above a million were the exception. Now more are being sold. This is due to the general price increase. It is also a safe way of investing. Most buyers are Belgians and second home owners. “If we look at the last 20 years, we see that real estate here has a stable value. In fact, it has constantly risen in price. It is a safe investment and people can enjoy it at the same time, together with the family.”
Bruges is the second West Flemish municipality with millions in our province. There, 50 properties worth more than a million have been sold. Kortrijk is number 3 with 24 houses and apartments.
