As of: 07/27/2022 9:22 p.m

Martin Kind is no longer Managing Director of Management GmbH at Hannover 96. In a brief statement, the second division soccer club announced the surprising dismissal of the 78-year-old on Wednesday evening.

“Martin Kind was dismissed as managing director of Hannover 96 Management GmbH with immediate effect for important reasons. The committees will decide promptly on the new appointment of the management. The board of directors of the Hannoverscher Sportverein von 1896 eV,” said a statement from the board of directors of the parent club Hannover 96 eV sent out on Wednesday evening.

Also managing director of the professional company

However, the 78-year-old majority shareholder of the professional football company is still the managing director of “Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGaA”, as Christoph Heckmann, Deputy Head of Media & Communication at 96, confirmed to NDR.

“Hannover 96 GmbH & Co. KGaA” leads the professional department of Lower Saxony, but is subordinate to the “Hannover 96 Management GmbH” in the complicated 96 construct, which appoints the management of the professional department.

The club has apparently already found a successor

According to information from the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung, Kind was ordered to the club center on Wednesday. “He took note of it without comment,” said club president Sebastian Kramer, who didn’t want to say more about it, “because it’s a pending case.” However, when asked, he confirmed that the eV had already found a successor for Kind.

Child at Hannover 96 since 1997

Kind had shaped an era in the 96ers since 1997 and put the club back on the road to success financially and sportingly. The now 78-year-old had already resigned in 2005/06, but returned after just a year. In order to comply with the so-called 50+1 rule of the German Football League (DFL), the parent club at the Lower Saxony decides on the filling of the managing director positions.
