Yet another triple double for the Serbian, but the Timberwolves win. Cleveland and Chicago also did well over the Nets and Bucks

Simone Sandri

March 2 – 00:59 – MILAN

The Timberwolves move on to Denver, Wemby entertains Madison Square Garden but in the end the Knicks win, thus interrupting the streak of eleven consecutive victories for the Spurs, while the Cavs move on to Brooklyn.

Denver Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves 108-117

The difficult moment continues for the Nuggets (37-24) who are also overcome within friendly walls by the Timberwolves (38-23). Denver therefore suffers its eighth defeat in the last 12 games. Minny doesn’t even need a cinematic performance from Edwards who does his thing without enchanting and in the end he finishes with 21 points. Former Nuggets Hyland’s impact from the bench was excellent, however: 18 points, with 6/7 shooting, in 16 minutes of play. Usual MVP performance, however, for Jokic who flirts with yet another triple double and scores 35 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists.

Denver: Jokic 35 (14/22, 1/4, 4/6 TL), Murray 25, Hardaway Jr. 17. Rebounds: Jokic 13. Assists: Jokic 9.

Minnesota: Edwards 21 (6/10, 3/9, 0/2 TL), McDaniels 20, Hyland 18. Rebounds: Gobert 15. Assists: Randle 7.

New York Knicks-San Antonio Spurs 114-89

Wemby’s annual visit to the Garden is an event, as always. If the Frenchman deserves the cover, in the end the ones smiling are the Knicks (39-22) who with a performance of great character interrupt the streak of 11 consecutive victories for the Spurs (43-17). The home team immediately took possession of the match by posting a 26-2 run in the first half, then never looked back and found success. Wembanyama showed flashes of his infinite talent and ultimately finished with 25 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks.

New York: Bridges 25 (5/8, 5/9), Brunson 24, Diawara 14. Rebounds: Towns 14. Assists: Hart, Brunson 7.

San Antonio: Wembanyama 25 (7/10, 1/7, 8/9 TL), Vassell 18, Castle 13. Rebounds: Wembanyama 13. Assists: Fox 6.

Brooklyn Nets-Cleveland Cavaliers 102-106

The Cavaliers (38-24), without the injured Mitchell, dozed for three quarters in Brooklyn then got serious in the final quarter and found success. This marks the eighth consecutive defeat for the Nets (15-45). 22 points and eight assists for the former Harden.

Brooklyn: Porter Jr. 26 (5/9, 5/8, 1/2 tl), Wolf 23, Traore 17. Rebounds: Wolf 9. Assists: Williams, Wolf 5.

Cleveland: Harden 22 (1/2, 4/7, 8/12 TL), Allen 20, Mobley 17. Rebounds: Mobley 13. Assists: Harden 8.

Chicago Bulls-Milwaukee Bucks 120-97

After a decent first half, the Bucks (26-33) collapsed in the second half in Chicago. The decisive acceleration of the Bulls (25-36) changes the direction of the match and the home team runs away scoring something like 27 consecutive points between the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the last quarter. Triple double for Giddey: 20 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Chicago: Sexton 22 (5/5, 3/8, 1/1 tl), Buzelis, Giddey 20. Rebounds: Giddey 14. Assists: Giddey 10.

Milwaukee: Portis 18 (4/6, 3/8, 1/1 tl), Thomas 15, Green 13. Rebounds: Sims 11. Assists: Rollins 7.
