Three lawyers for the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny were sentenced on Friday to prison terms of 3.5 to 5.5 years. Reuters reports this based on the Mediazona news service. They were found guilty of participating in an extremist organization.
Navalny died in 2022 under suspicious circumstances in a Russian prison camp. The three lawyers were arrested in October 2023 and shortly afterwards added to an official list of “terrorists and extremists”. These are Vadim Kobzev, Igor Sergunin and Alexei Liptsen. The trial against them took place behind closed doors, so details about the case are limited.
