The second and last day of the NATO summit in The Hague was dominated by the new NATO standard, to spend 3.5 percent of the gross domestic product on defense, plus 1.5 percent for supporting matters. In the World Forum, the heads of state, heads of government and Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the NATO countries met to decide on this.

North Atlantic Council: Decisions for the alliance
The central meeting of Wednesday 25 June was the meeting of the North Atlantic Council. Here the NATO leaders spoke about the security situation in the world and they decided on the further course of the alliance. Topics included the increase in expenditure for defense, the support of Ukraine, strengthening the joint defense and cooperation in the field of technology and innovation.
In addition to the plenary meetings, bilateral conversations took place between different countries, including the Netherlands.

Final press conference and communiqué
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte gave at the end of the day A press conference in which he explained the results of the top. Subsequently, press conferences in the Netherlands and the other NATO allies followed. The joint communiqué was also presented.
Nato Public Forum: conversations about peace and safety
It was on this last day of the top Nato Public Forum to follow online again. In panels and conversations, government leaders, young people, experts and opinion makers spoke about current issues about our peace and safety. The sessions can be viewed via www.natopublicforum.org.
By closing the top, the Netherlands looks back on two intensive days of consultation and cooperation. This week, The Hague was dominated by international security and NATO alliance.
