NATO ship entered the Baltic Sea

The Dutch warship HNLMS Rotterdam entered the Baltic Sea, according to the Estonian portal ERR. It is currently located off the coast of Sweden.

The task of the ship is to monitor the situation in the region.

HNLMS Rotterdam is a landing craft with a landing pad designed for helicopter operations.

ERR cites the opinion of Magnus Christiansson, a researcher at the Swedish National Defense College. The expert believes that the arrival of the ship is associated with Russia’s buildup of military activity near the Ukrainian border.

“NATO is adjusting to Russia’s aggressive and unpredictable moves and is stepping up cooperation with Sweden and Finland in the Baltic Sea,” Kristiansson said.

Recently, there have been statements in the West and in Kiev that Russia is allegedly preparing to invade territory of Ukraine. The Kremlin has already answered this that the Russian armed forces are moving around the territory of their country, and this should not cause concern to anyone. January 16 Kremlin official Dmitry Peskov said that tensions on the border with Ukraine are high, but accusations that Russia is involved in the escalation are unfounded.
