National team: DFB women rehearse the EM emergency

With fun and joy, but without experiments – the German soccer women rehearse the EM emergency in the international match against Switzerland.

At the dress rehearsal for the final round in England from July 6th to 31st, national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg expects her team to perform convincingly today (5:00 p.m.) in Erfurt, which should give momentum to the EURO.

“We want to act very dynamically with the ball, have a lot of confidence, have a quick combination game and also be defensively active. And what I also expect is a lot of creativity,” said Voss-Tecklenburg, formulating the requirements for the endurance test and the European Championship.

The staff:

Captain Alexandra Popp, who had to take a break from training for several days due to a corona infection, returned in good time. The 31-year-old offensive player from German champions VfL Wolfsburg should be further developed in the coming days and will definitely not be used for more than 90 minutes.

Popp’s teammate Tabea Wassmuth, who is in rehabilitation training after a calf injury, is not there.

Form:

According to the national coach, the EM tournament can come. “We have an incredibly good training quality, a great intensity, a great freshness. We have to take that with us – both in the game against Switzerland and the first group game against Denmark,” said Voss-Tecklenburg.

In addition, it is important that the entire squad is healthy at the start of the European Championship. “Our goal is for all players to be stable enough to play on July 8,” emphasized the 54-year-old.
