Olympic, world and European champion national archer Mete Gazoz said, “I want to gradually build up both physical, mental strength and performance and reach the highest level by 2028. I want to raise my performance higher than ever before. We will see the best Mete Gazoz in 2028.” he said.
Mete Gazoz, who continues his preparations with the national team at a hotel in Antalya’s Serik district, said in his statement that 2025 has been a good year for him.
Reminding that he could not get a medal despite having the highest average in the World Championship, which was his target competition, Mete noted that they won a medal in the World Cups last year and that although he had unlucky times in some competitions, his overall performance was good.
Mete Gazoz stated that he had a better preparation period for 2026 with the motivation created by the unlucky events he experienced.
Explaining that there is always a need for luck in sports, but that he will not leave the tournaments to chance in 2026 as much as he can, the national archer said, “We have the European Championship and the Mediterranean Games ahead of us. I am the last European champion. This year, I hope to become the champion again and be the first athlete to achieve this consecutively. We want to win the gold medal as a team as the European champion, with the support of the audience in this competition to be held in Antalya.” he said.

Mentioning that there is a 4-year preparation process for the Los Angeles Olympics, Mete Gazoz said:
“In this 4-year period, there are many important tournaments such as World championships, quota competitions, European championships, World cups and Mediterranean games. In fact, none of them are important compared to the Olympics. It seems like I am preparing for the target competitions every year, but in fact this is a 4-year preparation process. Everything is going very well. I want to gradually load up both physically, mentally and in terms of performance and reach the highest level by 2028. Mete Gazoz pointed out that he was happy to see young athletes in the national team and said, “It is a great thing for the Turkish National Team that these athletes are trying to push me and surpass me. Turkish archery shows that it can always stay at the top by training athletes from the bottom. This is a legacy thing. I help new athletes as much as I can, I share my experiences. Young athletes should think that they can surpass me. Passing me means that they can surpass everyone in this world. Because there is no one in the world who has won everything more than me. I try to give young athletes the self-confidence of this. “As they try to surpass me, I think I need to improve myself more and train more, so the whole team improves.” made his assessment.
