The Academics Heidelberg have toppled the previous league leaders Ulm from the top thanks to an impressive comeback in the top game of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL).
With 69:67 (33:45) on Saturday, the previous runner-up overtook the 2023 champions and took the lead in the table after four successes in a row. Damariae Horne and Erol Ersek were the best scorers for Heidelberg with 14 points each, who were still 19 points behind at the beginning of the third quarter.
In the final section, however, the Ulm team collapsed, the hosts only scored seven points and suffered their first defeat after five competitive game wins in a row.
Braunschweig wins in Frankfurt
On Friday, the Basketball Lions Braunschweig had already moved further towards the top group with their third consecutive win. For the Frankfurt Skyliners, TJ Crockett set the course for a 92:91 (43:48) victory in his first game after an injury break of several weeks with a successful three-pointer in the final phase.
Frankfurt, still winless at home, remain in second-to-last place.
