Napoli-Eintracht Champions, Glasner: “Three goals conceded or wait for penalties”

The Eintracht coach on the eve of the match against Napoli: “I don’t want to be too optimistic, but let’s aim for this. We will miss the push from the fans”

“We would have liked to have our fans but now we focus on the match. Certainly with their positive energy it would have been better. But I stay out of sports politics.” The German coach Oliver Glasner thus tries to block the barrage of questions from German journalists who ask almost exclusively about the ban on Frankfurt fans, as if it were a state affair. And as if the absence of two forwards on the pitch weren’t more important: the French Kolo Muani and the Danish Lindstrom: “We’re thinking about other solutions. Despite this, the team gave me good sensations. And then also with them on the pitch we lost”.

pressing

Says the coach who then explains tactically: “They do very aggressive gegenpressing and we have to get out of these situations. In the first leg they exploited our mistakes. Against Atalanta they scored by stealing time from their opponents. We are at high levels and we have to accept this challenge. We can score three goals straight away and then wait or vice versa. Or we can go to penalties. I don’t want to be overly optimistic, because Napoli are very strong, but these are our objectives.” Midfielder Sebastian Rode was also optimistic: “You need luck but also courage. We’ll see what happens.”
