Nahir Galarza: how much did he earn with the movies and series about his case

Nahir Galarza, the youngest woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment in the country’s history, does not stop receiving offers from film and series producers who want to tell her story. A few days ago the trailer for “Nahir, Angel or Demon”the twelve-episode series that the production company Zeppelin Studio produced by being inspired by the controversial police case. But also the producer Kapow (Carmel, The Rat Horror Show) prepare a 3-episode docureality about the case. For these two productions, Nair Galarza received the total amount of $500,000 in exchange for assigning the rights (300,000 for the first production and another 200,000 for the second).

But besides that, the Mexican producer TBS (Mexico) (who produced the series of “Maradona”), Y Pampa Films (who produced the series ‘Monzón’) are preparing a miniseries and a movie respectively, also based on the Galarza case. Both projects are still in the negotiation stage, with which the details of how they will be and what is the amount that their producers must pay for the assignment of rights are not yet known. Although it could not yet be confirmed, for one of these projects it would be used as a source “Nahir’s silence, chronicle of a media lynching”the book by Galarza’s manager and former spokesperson, Jorge Zonziniwho was not satisfied with the result of the Zeppelin series.

“It really seemed very poor to me, both in the performances, the art of photography and cameras, making it clear that they were at stake for a story that, since it was just beginning, its writers have had to rewrite over and over again,” explained Zonzini. In the trailer of the series you can see images of two unknown actors, playing Nahir and fernando pastorizzo, Nahir’s boyfriend for whose death the young woman was accused. While graphics are printed on the image with different legends: “I didn’t kill him”, “It was me”, “It was him or me”, “It was an accident”, and finally “It was dad”; in reference to the accusation that Galarza made in 2021 about his father, pointing him out as the perpetrator of the crime. “That trailer was sold in 2019. And in these 4 years the whole case was modified. Instead of changing and making a new one, they added printed graphics to the original trailer”, questioned Zonzini.

In 2019, the producers went to talk to Nahir’s father, Marcelo Galarzato whom they first indicated that the series was for Warnerand then that it was for HBO. However, a certain departure date was never set, probably pending the ruling of the Supreme Court, which is currently reviewing the life sentence.

Cover of Zonzini’s book on the case. In it, the manager had already anticipated much of what Nahir later declared about his father.

In Zonzini’s own words, the series started “in the wrong direction”. “It was negotiated financially by Nahir’s father, prior to the complaint that she made against him as the perpetrator of the crime. That is why a precautionary measure weighs on that negotiation today, since it was carried out with Nahir in captivity, and he did not see any of that money. It could be part of the coercion with which her father always dealt with her daughter, to the point of having forced her to incriminate herself, “says Zonzini.

The second project, Kapow’s docureality, would have left Nahir more satisfied. The negotiation was carried out directly with her. She was interviewed throughout 2022 in Unit 6 of Paranáwhere she is currently detained. The project included interviews with everyone involved in the case, including Zonzini.

Nahir Galarza she became the youngest woman to receive a life sentence as the sole defendant for her boyfriend’s crime Fernando Pastorizzo. The crime occurred in the early morning of December 29, 2017, in the city of Gualeguaychu and it was specially covered by national and international media.

Pastorizzo was killed with two shots from a firearm: one on the back and one on the chest. According to evidence and testimonies collected, and after Nahir herself blamed herself, she was sentenced at first instance in July 2018 for considering her guilty of aggravated homicide due to the relationship, since she had a stable relationship with Fernando. Galarza’s defense made two appeals against the sentence, but in March 2020 the Supreme Court of Justice of Entre Ríos rejected them.

In 2022, Nahir denounces his father, Marcelo Galarzaas the author of the crime, and also denounces that he had violated his mother several times, Yanina Kroh, who confirmed and supported his daughter’s version. “I believe what my daughter says, that the one who killed Pastorizzo was her father,” she said. According to this version, Nahir’s father exercised such psychological control over her daughter that, after committing the crime, she had forced her to incriminate herself. The young woman’s defenders point out that it is necessary to understand the family history: hand in hand with the accusation against her father, the young woman filed a lawsuit against her paternal uncle, whom she accused of sexually abusing her when she was a minor .

“They went several times and even tied her to a tree,” he said. Hermida Legend, who until a few days ago was Nahir’s lawyer Hermida had affirmed that the therapy helped Nahir gain confidence and, finally, tell the truth. While some consider that this version may be an alibi to get his sentence reduced, Nahir continues to wait for the Supreme Court review the ruling, five years after the murder of Pastorizzo occurred.
