Melbourne (AP) – A good one and a half weeks after a corona infection, Rafael Nadal presented himself ready to return to the tennis court in Australia.

The 20-time Grand Slam tournament winner published a photo that shows him in tennis outfit in Melbourne Park. “Don’t tell anyone … … here I am,” wrote Nadal with a wink smiley. On December 20, the 35-year-old Spaniard announced that he had tested positive for the corona virus.

So far, Nadal has registered for a preparatory tournament for the Australian Open, which begins next week in Melbourne. The first Grand Slam tournament of the year will start on January 17th.

The world number six made his comeback at the invitation tournament in Abu Dhabi in mid-December after a break of more than four months due to a foot injury. He had previously stood on the pitch at the ATP tournament in Washington at the beginning of August and then ended his season on the ATP Tour in 2021 prematurely.
