I was to poke for that. My husband Chris and I had no vacation plans; We saved for a renovation.
To flee
I didn’t have to think about being stuck with Chris for a whole summer. He retired a year ago and could still not find his way. He barely had hobbies. I suspected that he thought he would not have suggested anything without a job. Why, he had contributed to society for decades?!

He walked me at home. He clung to me, wanted to be helpful and then walked on to vacuum while I had already done it thoroughly the day before. Or he wanted to drink extensive coffee with me or make a detour with me while I had other plans. Or just don’t feel like it. It was a task to have a man around me all day who could not entertain himself. Sometimes I fled the house with an excuse.
Holiday home
The range of my daughter and son -in -law came as called. Sun, swimming pool, distraction: of course I wanted to come.
It would not cost us anything, because their French holiday home had already been paid. Sat space. Of course we should pay for our own food, but you have to eat at home too.

Chris saw it too. I did not emphatically told him that we as grandpa and grandma were supposed to look after occasionally. Did that spoke for itself? Moreover, we both love our dear grandchildren.
Irritated
My daughter and son -in -law have such a van where eight people can enter. In good spirits we drove to France. The grandchildren were crazy, because grandpa and grandma went along nicely.
Already after a few days I noticed that my husband reacted rather irritated to the grandchildren occasionally. “They are so Drúk,” he sighed against me. I thought he was appointing himself, but I didn’t say that in so many words.
After just a week, Paula and Rob indeed went on a date. At Chris that did not go well. “Let them look after their own children!” He hissed against me that evening. Well!
Annoyances of a babysitter: “Why do you hire me if you get involved with the children?”
A few days later, Chris suggested eating somewhere with me. I thought: gosh, he does his best to make something of it.
Cheap babysitter
But our dinner became a sof. Chris did not want to do romantic at all, he just complained. That he did not go on holiday to be used as ‘cheap babysitter’ (his literal words). I just looked at him and thought: I am completely cling with this ineffective guy.
After the holidays I made a radical decision. I went to live with a friend temporarily and requested the divorce.
My daughter felt enormously guilty. If we hadn’t gone to France with them, then …
But of course it wasn’t like that. If you look deep in my heart, I had been sick and tired of my husband for years.
