The singer is taking on a voice role in a new Dungeon & Dragons pinball game.
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is one of the speakers for a new “Dungeons & Dragons” pinball machine. The musician has repeatedly stated that he is a fan of the pen & paper game in the past.
The 70s are back
The songwriter, comic book writer and “The Umbrella Academy” creator has participated in the film alongside other celebrities such as actor and Dethklok guitarist Brendon Small and filmmakers Kevin Smith (“Clerks”) and Chris Prynoski (“Downtown”) Arcade game contributed. Video game composer Chris Velasco (“Bloodborne,” “Mass Effect 2”) was responsible for the music for “Dungeons & Dragons: The Tyrant’s Eye.”
The game’s description states, “Players will experience the fantasy world beneath the glass of the game, which fuses pinball with the iconic franchise like never before.” The tabletop game “Dungeons & Dragons” was created in 1974 by the American Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson invented it. It was the first modern role-playing game and had a strong influence on pop culture, for example in films, video games and series such as “Stranger Things”.
The singer also likes to gamble
Gerard Way had already declared his love for the game in an interview with “Time Out” in 2015 and revealed his favorite role: “I’ve always played a half-elf ranger. I like rangers – they can track things and shoot things with a bow.” He confessed to being a follower of “D&D” for a second time in 2020 when he posted pictures of himself and his friends while they were in lockdown together via Zoom played.
Back on tour with the Legacy show
My Chemical Romance are heading back on a major North American stadium tour this summer to celebrate their 2006 album THE BLACK PARADE. Last October, the band performed the record in its entirety at a festival in Las Vegas for the first time since 2007.
The group’s last fresh material came in 2022 with the single “The Foundations of Decay” – which was their first new release in eight years. Additionally, My Chemical Romance recently paid tribute to their former drummer Bob Bryar, who passed away last November at the age of 44.
