Musk presents Linda Yaccarino as Twitter’s new top woman

Linda Yaccarino is Twitter’s new top woman. Her predecessor Elon Musk announced this on Friday evening through that same medium. Yaccarino (60) will focus on business operations, while Musk will focus on product design and new technology for Twitter. The new top woman will start in six weeks, according to Musk. Musk, 51, will remain a member of the company’s board of directors.

Yaccarino makes the move from the media company NBCUniversal, where she also held a leadership role. About six months ago, Musk announced that he would step down if he found someone “crazy enough” to succeed him. This was preceded by a poll in which he asked his followers whether he should stay on as top man; a majority voted for the billionaire to leave.

Musk took over Twitter in October last year for about 44 billion dollars (more than 40 billion euros). He fired a large part of the staff and fine-tuned the work culture. The billionaire announced on Friday that he would “transform Twitter into X, the everything app”. X is the name of the company that Musk previously merged with Twitter, but he did not reveal much more about those plans.
