German rap, deep house, dance pop – or Ballermann hits? As is well known, musical taste can be debatable. That’s what the Eintracht Braunschweig 2025 professionals heard most often.
As in many places, all sorts of Christmas hits are currently increasingly booming through Braunschweig’s jukeboxes. But that wasn’t the case all year long. At least on the streaming service Spotify, the American pop and country singer Taylor Swift will be the most popular artist in 2025. “Tau mich auf” by Zartmann came out on top as the top songs. Read more about this here.
But what do the professionals actually hear from? Eintracht Braunschweig? The club provides insights into the music taste of its own players on Instagram. Offensive man Chris Conteh, BTSV’s top scorer in the first half of the season with five goals and three assists, is in the German rap cosmos. Four German hip-hop artists, Reezy, Luciano, Haaland 936 and Sosa La M, were among his five most popular artists. His top genre: Trap.
Captain Sven Köhler also has a hip-hop artist at the top. The Canadian rapper and RnB singer Drake stands out from the competition. West African Afrobeats musician Burna Boy ranks right behind. Following is Nigerian AfroPop and R&B singer Ayra Starr. Deep House emerges as his favorite genre.
Defender Lukas Frenkert, who moved from Preußen Münster to Eintracht in the summer, has a more varied career. His top five includes German rapper Apache 207 – but also the American artists Juice Wrld and Post Malone. Justin Bieber and the Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía round off the colorful mix in fourth and fifth place.
Cabin DJ and BTSV veteran Fabio Kaufmann’s musical heart beats especially for the French DJ and musician Hugel. And: Although his Afro House is identified as his top genre, his most popular artists in Chris Brown, Drake, Usher and David Guetta are mainly international rap and RnB artists. His top song is particularly out of the ordinary: the Ballermann hit “Zum Graben Nah” ends up there.
Globally, Bad Bunny’s music was the most streamed on Spotify this year. In Germany this year – like 2024 – Taylor Swift is in first place. The most popular song worldwide was “Die With A Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, and in Germany it was Zartmann’s “tau mich auf”.
