Musical of the vampire horror film is being planned

In 1987, “The Lost Boys,” a horror comedy that is probably familiar to every vampire fan, was released. The story’s success could now be continued on stage, as “Tony Award” winner Michael Arden and David Hornsby (“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”) are said to be working on a musical adaptation.

No details about the cast or production schedule have been announced yet. However, sources such as “Deadline” have already confirmed that work on “The Lost Boys – the Musical” has begun. Micharl Arden is set to direct the project, while David Hornsby will write the script in collaboration with Broadway actor Chris Hoch. It is also clear: Ethan Popp, who already worked on “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical”, will act as musical supervisor. Music will be provided by the band The Rescues.

The producers are already on board. According to media reports, these are three experienced actors: Patrick Wilson (“Phantom of the Opera,” “Aquaman”), James Carpinello (Broadway productions of “Saturday Night Fever,” “Rock of Ages”) and Marcus Chait (Broadway Productions of “Urban Cowboy”). As Deadline reports, the show will be produced “under a special agreement with Warner Bros. Theater Ventures.”

“The Lost Boys” is considered one of the first teenage vampire films and was well received worldwide. It stars the then up-and-coming young actors Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim and Jason Patric. Directed by Joel Schumacher (“Batman Forever”). The story is about two brothers who, after moving, discover that their new hometown is being terrorized by a vampire gang. In 2021 it was announced that a remake was also being worked on. The story will then take place in the 21st century. Noah Jupe and Jaeden Martell will star in the film and will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle. However, it is currently not clear when the new edition will be released in cinemas.
