Jamal Musiala scores straight away on his comeback in FC Bayern’s starting line-up. In the meantime he admits to a few problems, Sami Khedira even expects “a little valley”.
Jamal Musiala celebrated a strong comeback in FC Bayern’s first team six months after breaking his fibula at the Club World Cup. In the 2-1 win against PSV Eindhoven in the final game of the Champions League, the 22-year-old scored a goal after some great interaction with Lennart Karl.
“It was pretty good, I’m coming in now, it was a good day,” said Musiala about his appearance on DAZN. By the time he was substituted after 62 minutes, he had made 43 ball contacts and completed all of his 22 passes. Musiala was, as usual, happy to play and dribble, but of his seven attempts only 14 percent were successful. Nobody expects miracles from Jamal and yet he played a very, very good game after such a long time,” said Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl.
The midfielder himself was a little more self-critical: “At the beginning of the second half, I briefly forgot how to play football,” Musiala said with a laugh, referring primarily to losing the ball against two opponents in central midfield.
“I can’t lose the ball, even if it’s my first start. I have to handle the ball more cleanly. But it’ll happen,” he said, assessing his performance. “When I’m on the pitch I want to have a lot of energy and focus so I can deliver.”
