The murdered French girl Lyhanna (11) was raped, her autopsy shows. According to French news channel ‘BFMTV’, the girl was also gagged with tape and her body showed bruises. The cause of death is currently unknown.

Lyhanna disappeared on May 29 after leaving for school in Fleurance. According to French authorities, that day she got into the car of main suspect Jérôme Barella (41), the father of one of her girlfriends. Her body was found on June 4 in an abandoned grain silo about ten miles away. Barella has been charged with kidnapping and unlawful deprivation of liberty of a minor under the age of 15.
The case has caused quite a stir in France, after it became known that a complaint was filed against Barella in 2022 and 2025 for sexual offenses against a minor. The first complaint was classified without action, the investigation into the second complaint is still ongoing. Moreover, before Lyhanna’s disappearance, the United States had warned France several times about his online behavior.
