Murdered couple in Weiteveen already feared a tragedy. ‘You brought the wrong one’

Sam and Ineke’s dream in Weiteveen turns into a nightmare when they get into an argument with Richard K., from whom they buy their house. On Tuesday morning this ended in a deadly tragedy, about which more and more information is becoming known.

The story goes that K. hit Ineke’s car on the Bargerweg in Weiteveen on Tuesday, after which she crashed into a tree. He then allegedly shot her several times. He then goes to her house, where the 12-year-old son of the house answers the door. Inside, K. injures father Sam so badly, possibly with a knife, that he collapses moments later outside. Ineke is already dead in the car a few hundred meters away.

Both of their children are orphaned at once. Richard K., also the father of two children, surrenders to the police.

Pur against sewer smell

How could such an explosion of violence happen this Tuesday? And that exactly one year after the signing of the deed of sale between suspect K. (50) and Sam (38) – a Pole with his own construction company – and his wife Ineke (44).

After the sale of K.’s parental home to Sam and Ineke from Velsen-Zuid, a conflict soon arises about hidden defects. This concerns problems with the bathroom, where, according to the buyers, K. has sprayed the pipes full of pur against the sewer smell. The sewerage system is also no longer working properly, there is a leak in the horse stable and a floor has sagged. The costs of all repairs would soon amount to €100,000.

On October 7, 2023, Ineke texts Wilfred, a good friend of hers, that their ‘dream has failed in Weiteveen’. ‘We’re moving again!’ She wants to return to the West with ‘screeching tires’.

Ineke reports death threats

According to Ineke, the argument with salesman Richard leads to death threats and more harassment against her and Sam. She feels unsafe and says that she has reported the incident to the police many times. She hopes that the lawsuit they started about the defects in their dream home will bring clarity in early February.

But in the meantime, the conflict between buyers and seller is escalating. And then 50-year-old K. is not at his best, say people who have known him for a long time. Although K. is described as a sweet and friendly man, but if there are threats or problems, a completely different, much more verbally aggressive side suddenly emerges.

In July 2023, Ineke reports an annoying pursuit of her son by K. on his motorcycle. As a precaution, Ineke and her husband took their son from the local Weiteveense Boys football club.

Two days before her death, Ineke alerts the police

A friend of Sam and Ineke, whose son sometimes played with that of the murdered couple, calls them ‘sweet people’. Good friend Wilfred also speaks of a great couple. “And yes, they can also be difficult to find. But Sam is never aggressive, if someone didn’t pay the bill, he always sent a collection agency.”

K. visits Sam and Ineke’s house almost every day until Tuesday. His son’s horses ran on a piece of land near his former parental home.

To Ineke’s sadness, she tells Wilfred, the sellers accuse her of throwing glass between their horses. And she also allegedly threw fireworks at the horses, but according to the couple’s good friend, camera images showed that they were boys from the village. “Ineke is a great horse lover herself, can you imagine how much pain those accusations caused her?” says Wilfred.

On Sunday, two days before the deadly tragedy, Ineke alerted the police again, says Wilfred, who spoke to her on the phone that evening. “She told me that K. and his wife came to film how Sam installed a new surveillance camera. K. also scolded Sam, according to Ineke. Just before the police came, he dropped right in front of Sam, as if Sam had done something to him.”

To Ineke’s astonishment, the police do not take Richard K. away, but her husband. That evening, Sam often tells the officers that they have taken the wrong person and that he is afraid that K. will kill him one day.

Richard K. cancels billiards

It is also known that K. cancels billiards that Sunday evening. He gives the reason that he has to go to the hospital for stitches after an argument with Sam.

In the video that K. broadcast live via Facebook on Tuesday shortly after the deadly violence, and in which he more or less confesses that he killed Sam and Ineke, a tiny red spot can be seen on his head. The bonding? “After a year of taunting, they finally got it done,” K. shouts out.

Almost simultaneously with her husband’s live video, his wife Ingrid also appears very emotional on a live stream. “And now Richard has gone completely crazy.”

The police reported on Wednesday that a ‘long-standing conflict is the basis for this incident’. According to the police, there was a heated argument between the suspect and his partner on the one hand and the victims on the other, ‘where both parties have reported in the past year what they consider to be nuisance or criminal behavior by the other’.

Several weapons were seized by the police on Tuesday. After such a shooting incident, the police always investigate the weapons and any permits issued.
