For a long time, Berlin’s Hertha had everything under control against Preußen Münster, then a defensive mistake tipped the game over. Münster landed a breakthrough in the relegation battle with the late 2-1 (0-1) on Friday evening (December 13, 2024) in the Olympic Stadium.
Derry Scherhant gave Berlin the lead in the 28th minute, and Daniel Kyerewaa equalized in the 57th minute. Three minutes before the end, Torge Paetow bagged the three points for the Münster team.
Fell has no explanation
Hertha coach Cristian Fiel was stunned after the final whistle: “This is an achievement that we have to explain. I’m having a hard time with it right now. The disappointment is very great. That’s far too little for our expectations.”

Hertha started the duel dominantly, pushed Münster into their own half, but initially failed to achieve any top-class shots. After a quarter of an hour, things got tight for the first time for Prussia keeper Johannes Schenk, but an attempt from Toni Leistner with the back of his head narrowly missed the left corner.
Bouchama tests his own keeper
Seven minutes later, Münster almost helped reduce the deficit when Yassine Bouchama forced his own keeper to do a brilliant job during an attempt to clear the ball.

Then the guests came a little more vehemently over the halfway line, but after preparation by Babis Makridis, Andras Németh was too surprised by his sudden freedom and failed in front of Hertha goalkeeper Tjark Ernst (24th).
Scherhant too fast for the Prussian defense
Münster also acted clumsily on defense: Jano ter Horst accompanied Scherhant as he stormed into the penalty area, where he then clumsily ran around him from behind. Referee Lars Erbst immediately pointed to the penalty spot, and Scherhant safely converted.
Shortly before the break, the 22-year-old Berlin native was again too fast for the Prussian defense: Schenk, however, prevented the score from going 0-2 with very good positional play, and he was also there when Ibrahim Maza, who was too stubborn in this scene, took a follow-up shot. The better option than the finish would have been the cross pass to the completely free Florian Niederlechner, who also documented this with many gestures.

Lucky for Bouchama after a near emergency stop
After the change, the Berliners continued to press for the second goal, and Münster were lucky: after Bouchama lost the ball, Smail Prevljak marched freely towards the Prussian goal, Bouchama resorted to a tactical foul and only got around the emergency brake red because of a colleague who was running with him .
Hertha then made a mistake similar to Bouchama’s – and it had serious consequences. Pascal Klemens apparently thought he was safe in his own penalty area, dribbled the ball across his own goal, but overlooked Daniel Kyerewaa, who was creeping up. He simply took the ball from Klemens and had free rein to equalize, which was a complete surprise at this stage.
Hertha is deteriorating frighteningly
In retrospect, Münster deserved this goal, put a lot of pressure on them and were suddenly the much better team. As a result, there was hardly anything productive from Hertha, and the hosts continued to lose play to an alarming extent. That’s why in the end it was completely appropriate that Paetow secured the victory for the Prussians with a great shot after a standard – Münster has now left the relegation places in the blitz table.
