FC Bayern goes into the final matchday of the Champions League group phase as league leaders. The confident 4-0 win against Juventus Turin is still no guarantee of group victory.

In the 4-0 (1-0) win in the fifth game of the Champions League group stage, FC Bayern were overwhelmingly superior; the Munich team had almost 80% possession of the ball after the first half. However, coach Alexander Strauss’ team was only able to achieve dominance on goal in the second half.

Damnjanović benefits from stabs

After the Munich team lacked a chance to score at the beginning, Pernille Harder had the first chance in the 19th minute, but the Dane’s header went over the goal. Three minutes later, Klara Bühl tried from the half-left position, but the striker’s shot bounced off the crossbar and bounced just in front of the goal. After some prodding in the penalty area, Jovana Damnjanović finally pushed the ball over the line to make it 1-0.

Dominance – few goals

A goal from Klara Bühl was still in the air. In the 25th minute, the national player’s shot was deflected after a nice one-two, but Pauline Peyraud-Magnin was able to make a strong save. Carolin Simon narrowly missed the goal with a volley in the 35th minute.

“We’ve dominated the game so far and could have scored a second one,” she analyzed during the half-time break. The second half had more goals. In the 52nd minute, Pernille Harder scored her sixth goal in five games, after Klara Bühl had once again tested Peyraud-Magnin.

Klara Bühl: The best player on the pitch

The best player in the game finally scored herself at 3-0. Juventus Turin already seemed tired in the 73rd minute, so Bühl was able to net from falling. Klara Bühl’s contract expires in the summer, the national player’s whereabouts are still up in the air, and top European clubs are said to be interested in the 24-year-old.

The 18-year-old Alara Sehitler increased the final score to 4-0 in the 81st minute after a fantastic assist with a backheel from Lea Schüller. Before the game, FC Bayern Women had already secured a place in the knockout phase of the Champions League, but the Munich women will have to fight for group victory against Arsenal WFC on December 18th, because the London women also won their game in the group C
