Munich air traffic temporarily suspended due to heavy snowfall | Abroad

Air traffic at Munich Airport was temporarily suspended today due to heavy snowfall. So far, about 320 of the 760 scheduled flights have been canceled. Austria, Switzerland and Glasgow, Scotland, are also hit by icy cold and snowfall.

A spokesperson for Munich Airport says there will probably be no flights until 12 noon. Flights from the airport in southern Germany, the country’s second busiest, were also delayed on Friday. Flights were also canceled.

Also problems with public transport

The snow is also causing major disruptions to public transport in the state of Bavaria, especially the capital Munich. Train traffic to and from Munich Central Station has virtually come to a standstill. Long-distance trains from Munich to the German cities of Nuremberg, Stuttgart and Lindau and the Austrian Salzburg and Innsbruck have been cancelled. The regional network is also experiencing heavy disruption. In Munich and Ulm, stranded passengers had to spend the night on trains.
