In Groot Bankenbosch, one of the four prisons of Penitentiary Institution Veenhuizen, some prisoners and staff members have been tested positively for tuberculosis, or TB. That became clear after research by the GGD.
The detainees and staff members appeared to have sustained a closed, not infectious form of TB. They had all been in contact with a prisoner with Open TB.
A few weeks ago, the prisoner involved was transferred to the Judicial Center for Sombatic Care in Scheveningen for further treatment and is now back in Groot Bankenbosch.
According to a spokesperson there is no risk of further infection.
