A new face last week at Telstar on the training field: Sem van Duijn. The football club from Velsen-Zuid rents the 21-year-old attacker from AZ until the end of the season. According to trainer Anthony Correia, he has the character of an IJmuiden resident. “I think he will fit in well here.”
“We had quite a bit of contact,” says Sem van Duijn. The newest addition to the White Lions knew Anthony Correia from his time as a Quick Boys player. During that period, Correia was the head coach of vv Katwijk. “I think this is the best decision. Here I can show myself at the highest level.”

“This week is mainly about getting used to him,” Correia looks back on Van Duijn’s first days in his selection. A week and a half ago, Van Duijn was slightly injured at Jong AZ. However, he will be in the selection on Saturday evening. “He is certainly available and how we will use him is for Saturday.”

During his time at Quick Boys, Van Duijn mainly played as a left and right winger. At AZ they usually deployed him at the point of attack. “I’m quite flexible. I’ve just been in rush hour a lot lately and that went very well.”
This summer he will return to the Alkmaar club and Van Duijn ultimately wants to succeed there. “I want to show that I can do it.”
