Swedish label Axel Arigato and British luxury brand Mulberry are launching a capsule. The collaborative collection blends Axel Arigato’s Scandinavian minimalism with Mulberry’s timeless British aesthetic while taking inspiration from the heritage brand’s archives, Axel Arigato announced on Monday.
While the Swedish label is primarily known as a sneaker brand, it has been designing ready-to-wear clothing since 2019. The 35-piece capsule collection with Mulberry consists of ready-to-wear pieces as well as sneakers, accessories and three bag models. The starting point for the designs is Mulberry’s unique place in British fashion history and conceivable pop culture moments of the last 50 years.
While the three bag styles are directly inspired by designs from the British luxury fashion house’s archives and re-inspired by Axel Arigato, the Swedish label’s classic area basketball sneaker is updated with Mulberry’s ‘Postman’ logo and extra buckles. When it comes to fashion, the collaboration with embroidered college jackets and jeans is casual. The two-tone trench coat in black and beige is particularly eye-catching. To complete the collaboration and to reflect the “collegial and collaborative spirit of collaboration” a common logo has been designed that unites those of the brands.
The collaboration also adheres to both Mulberry’s “made to last” ethos and Axel Arigato’s responsible design approach. The bags are made from eco-certified leather in carbon-neutral factories in the UK, while the shoes are handmade in Portugal from a combination of leather and polyester made from recycled PET bottles. The cotton used is also GOT-certified, according to the announcement.
