For years there has been a fight for the memorial monument in the Muider new -build neighborhood De Krijgsman, where the Kruitfabriek used to be. The current monument was placed three years ago. This creates a place where the 43 victims of fires and explosions of the powder factory can be commemorated.
But the monument soon received the necessary criticism. The monument consists of a part narrow rail that was found on the site of the Kruitfabriek De Krijgsman. It is a end part with upright ends and is located in a gravel bin.
Especially new residents
According to the municipality, this monument evokes associations with the Holocaust at various local residents. Muider Guus Kroon and driver of the memorial monument said two years ago, when the monument had to be adjusted, to NH that are mainly new residents of the Muider residential area who have difficulty with the narrow gauge.
