The Mu.ZEE museum of modern art in Romestraat in Ostend contains 8,000 works of art. Today an era comes to an end, because the building is in need of restoration. And that means a lot of moving.

“We are preparing paintings to go to other depots and exhibitions,” says Bruno Verbergt, general director of Mu.ZEE.

But Ensor, Permeke, Spilliaert and hundreds of others are also in this important collection of Belgian art from 1880 to the present. Not only the budget of 8 million and 3 years of renovation demonstrate the ambition of Mu.ZEE.

“Museums must also meet insulation standards. We also want to improve comfort for the public. We will install other lifts for better public circulation.”
