There are other tragic news just a few days after the devastating fire of the main stage at the Tomorrowland Festival. According to reports, a 35-year-old visitor was killed. As the public prosecutor’s office Antwerp confirmed on Saturday, the Canadian had collapsed on Friday evening (July 18) on the grounds of the Belgian EDM major event in the Belgian boom and later died in the hospital.
“The public prosecutor immediately started investigations. Initial knowledge indicates a drug -related death. An autopsy and a thorough toxicological examination will provide final answers,” says an official statement.
Tomorrowland 2025 under no good star
The tragic death overshadows an already turbulent festival weekend. On Wednesday (July 16) a fire broke out on the site and had almost completely destroyed the main stage designed with great attention to detail. The stage is traditionally the heart of Tomorrowland. At the time of the fire, there were around 1000 crew members on site. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The festival management nevertheless confirmed the following day that the event would take place as planned.
According to some reports, pyrotechnics or fireworks could be responsible for the fire – however, official information on the cause is still pending. Residents reported “loud bangs” and a “huge fire wall”. An evacuation of neighboring houses was able to prevent worse things, the fire brigade was able to stop spreading to forests and surrounding buildings.
Metallica supported Tomorrowland with equipment
Without further ado, the organizers built an improvised main stage-with a smaller DJ desk and large LED wall against the backdrop of the burned-out structure. Metallica also made its contribution so that Tomorrowland can take place. You have provided your sound boxes that are stored in Europe. In addition to the central stage area, there are 14 other smaller stages at Tomorrowland.
Among this year’s headliners are international top acts such as David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Lost Frequencies and Charlotte de Witte. Despite the shock around the fire, numerous visitors remained loyal to the festival. A total of 400,000 spectators are expected on both weekends.
