Moving farewell post from Denise Herrmann

Denise Herrmann has not only been one of the most successful winter athletes in Germany since her Olympic victory in the biathlon individual at the Beijing Games in 2022. Coach Florian Steirer, whom the 33-year-old said goodbye to DSV with an emotional post on Instagram, probably also played a part in this.

Steirer joined the German coaching team after the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, where Austrian Mark Kirchner assisted. After the winter of 2021/22, the 36-year-old will leave his post at DSV.

“As a blank slate you got caught in a bunch of wild chickens in 2018. Due to your open, honest and direct manner, the page was quickly filled with color. We could feel the fire and your commitment in every single second of the last 4 years and you have for always gave us your last shirt, but also your very last shirt. All for the cause, for the big goal and the small slices. You rarely lost your sight. For that I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart “, wrote Herrmann to Steirer now on Instagram.

Styrian soon at the ÖSV?

The coach “embodied biathlon in the most professional way” that the former cross-country skier has been able to experience since she switched to the ski hunters in 2016. “In an incredible group we got the best out of every day and with a lot of joy and fun.”

At Steirer’s side, Herrmann won six individual races in the World Cup and three World Championship medals in individual disciplines.

Numerous (former) athletes joined the thanksgiving. Among them Vanessa Hinz, Maren Hammerschmidt and Laura Dahlmeier.

It is still unclear how things will continue for Steirer. However, after the rather disappointing Winter Olympics from an Austrian point of view, rumors arose that the ÖSV was interested in Steirer’s services. Herrmann Steirer wishes “only the best” for his future.
