A Japanese athlete recently found himself in a serious danger situation. Nakamura took first place in the traditional Central European Hill Week and decided to stay in Austria for a vacation after the race.
Nakamura went skiing on the slopes of the Sankt Johann area. When the athlete tried to pass a fellow competitor, he lost his balance and fell.
– I don’t remember everything. I was unconscious for a while. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, says Nakamura.
The hill jumper was diagnosed with a concussion. He posted a picture of his battered helmet on social media.
Nakamura urges everyone to wear a helmet on the slopes.
– Wear a helmet when skiing. It saved my life. Besides the concussion, my face looks like I’ve been in a fight.
Nakamura has competed in the World Cup for several years. He has been on the podium four times – once even in Ruka. There is also a team competition youth WC bronze in the trophy cabinet.
The Japanese will be seen this weekend at the World Cup in Zakopane.
