A motorist was seriously injured on the Tilburgseweg near Riel on Sunday night. He missed a road narrowing around half past five and then collided with a large boulder, which was placed next to the road as a decoration.
The impact was so strong that the boulder was pushed from its place. The motorist became trapped in his badly damaged car and had to be freed by the fire brigade.

The victim was rushed to a hospital. Due to the severity of the situation, an air ambulance was initially called in, but it ultimately proved unnecessary.
The heavily damaged car was taken away by a recovery company. The police are investigating how things could go wrong on the Tilburgseweg.
