The accident took place on Friday evening around 8 p.m. on Steenweg (N8). A car ran into it on a motorcycle in front. The blow was severe. The motorcyclist, a 53-year-old man from Herzele, was taken to hospital with serious skull trauma. He later died there from his injuries.
The public prosecutor appointed a traffic expert. Both the car and motorcycle were seized for further investigation. The driver’s license of the driver of the car, a 39-year-old man from Spiere-Helkijn, was revoked for 15 days.
