The Italian, happy with the best time on the first day in Thailand, remains cautious: “We were quick to adapt to the variable conditions, but you’ll see that the others will arrive on Saturday too. Marc is the one with the most experience, I’m only thinking about giving my best for the team. The objective was to get into Q2”
First in the morning, first in the afternoon. For Marco Bezzecchi the beginning is an important one. The rider from Romagna dominated the first day of testing for the Thai GP and, although he was among the fastest riders this season, the signal struck. The Aprilia rider from Romagna confirmed himself in great form and being able to dominate in different conditions, even with a drizzle that certainly disturbed the work in the afternoon, is certainly a merit and proof of a growing maturity. Just as his comments at the end of the day are mature, marked by healthy prudence, which never hurts at this stage.
objective q2

“This morning I was more satisfied than in the afternoon – he said – the second session was a bit of a strange one, in which we had to change our plans due to the conditions. Fortunately, I must say that the team reacted very well and this allowed us to achieve the most important objective of today, which was to go straight to Q2. In terms of pace, we are not in bad shape, but we still need to work a bit”, explained Bezzecchi, keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground.
rain and wind
—
More than the rain, it was the wind that created problems in the second session, a factor that affected the entire group. “I think it was critical for everyone, but not because of the aerodynamics. In fact, there was a moment of the session in which no one managed to improve. Paradoxically, by finding the right window, the afternoon session served more to set the time than to follow the work plan. The wind, however, was really difficult to understand and the braking points had to be adapted.”
the rivals
—
They achieved a four-tenths lead over Marc Marquez’s Ducati, but Bez prefers to remain calm: “On Saturday, when it counts, you’ll see that everyone will arrive. Today maybe there was someone who still had to settle down, others who didn’t have the perfect lap and made mistakes. Marc is a rider who has a little more experience, he’s the most successful. Even on Fridays when maybe he’s not ready, then he arrives. He’s the reigning champion and the strongest and this is the reason why I think that he is the favourite, although obviously I hope I can be fast enough to be able to fight with him and with the others. They talk about me, but it doesn’t make a difference in my mood. I just try to do my best every day, both at home and on the track.
