Motion on new agreements with COA about Ter Apel adopted

Motion about new agreements with COA about Ter Apel adopted

A motion has been passed in the municipality of Westerwolde (Groningen) that argues for new agreements with the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) regarding the application center in Ter Apel. It was already announced on Tuesday that the motion could count on broad support in the city council, which discussed the issue in a meeting on Wednesday evening.

The motion calls on the Commission to enter into a discussion with the COA, because that organization would have violated several agreements in the current agreement. For example, the center has been overcrowded for months and it has been agreed that a maximum of 2000 refugees can be accommodated. Tents were also said to have been placed several times while the municipality has not given permission for this.

The motion was submitted by the local Westerwolde Municipal Interests party and was passed unanimously. The COA previously announced that it would probably respond to the adopted motion on Thursday.
